Solar Electricity

Rebates Available

Renewable energy systems are more popular today than ever. Photovoltaic solar panels are being used to produce electricity for remote cabins, city homes, businesses, billboards, emergency phones, lights and much more.  Whether you have access to electricity or not, we can provide you with a solar electric system to suit your needs.  Call us for more information! If you are interested in producing environmentally clean sustainable electricity, it can be done easily with a grid-tied system. “Grid-tied” means the solar panels that are producing electricity are connected to your house and your main electric line. As the panels produce power, you can either use it or sell it back to your utility company.

Now the State of Minnesota is making it easier than ever to purchase a grid-tied photovoltaic solar system.  The Minnesota Department of Commerce State Energy Office is offering a $2 per watt rebate for new, grid-tied, solar electric systems. Conservation Technologies would like to help you take advantage of this offer. We will use a  $500 payment from you as “Evidence of Intent” to fulfill the requirement for the Minnesota Department of Commerce State Energy Office rebate program. Half ($250) of this is payment for the services provided by Conservation Technologies (listed below) and half ($250) is a down payment for materials and/or labor on a future system. The “down payment” half will be reimbursed if, for whatever reason, a future system is not installed by Conservation Technologies.

Minnesota Power offers an additional rebate of $2 per watt, up to $4000 for new solar electric systems.  Check with your utility company to see if they offer any incentives for installing solar electricity.

Conservation Technologies will provide the following:

  • Site visit to assure that the project will meet the state guidelines
  • Completed necessary Solar Pathfinder diagram
  • Digital photos of project site
  • Complete the necessary paper work to file with the Minnesota Department of Commerce State Energy Office for the rebate including site photos and diagrams
  • If applicable, file a copy of all paper work with utility company for a possible additional rebate
  • Custom photovoltaic electric system design
  • Cost estimate of completed system

What's right for you?

  • Solar panel sizing is dependent upon monthly electric consumption NOT square feet of home
  • An energy efficient home uses 300-400 kilowatt hours (KWh) a month
  • A 2.67 kilowatt solar electric system produces an estimated 360 KWh per month
  • Average homes use 700+ KWh month
  • Check your electric bill to see what you use!
